Chinese Take-Out
I mean, who doesn’t love Chinese food? Guests enjoyed prosecco with lychees and Bangkok spiced shrimp chips up in our lounge where red paper lantern hung and take-out boxes covered the ceiling. Onra’s Chinoiseries album played as dinner was served. From a beautiful and eclectic pu pu platter to a soup tasting, each bite was a delicious sample of familiar flavors. Shout out to our friends at Bombay Sapphire who sponsored our first cocktail of the evening with their delicious “East” gin. The main dishes were served family style while each guest received their own gold take out box filled with salt fish fried rice and 3 special packaged Epic Eats sauces: Soy Joy, Crack Sauce and Hot Shit. The table raised their Tsing Taos to toast the chef. We weren’t done yet! For dessert, Purple yam, vanilla, bourbon bubble tea paired with egg custards, orange slices, and Lady A’s fortune cookies. Epic Eats loves you …in bed.
Once Upon A Time…
A somber soundtrack made of fairytale scores brought a curious and sometimes ominous mood to the room. A large mural of a stark forest greeted guests arriving. Large vintage leather books, a rustic crown, old keys and an hourglass dressed the table with plenty of candle light illuminating the room and glass orbs overhead. Each course revealed a classic fairytale brought to life through conceptual plates of delicious and delicate ingredients. One dish after the other, this surprise menu kept everyone guessing and continually charmed. For every bit of whimsy put into the dishes there was equal sophistication and the stories came to life amongst a group of 8, dare we say it, “foodies”. One of our best groups yet, our guests could not stop chatting about toro. Glad to have pleased these educated palettes, we loved being in this fantasy world together!
Hidden Harvest
The end of summer and the start of gorgeous fall inspired this delicious meal. The night started out at our new location in Greenpoint with a cocktail lounge experience upstairs where the prosecco flowed freely. Upon moving downstairs for dinner, our guests found an an open kitchen where they were able to watch Chef J prepare their meal. The table was covered with fall gords, indian corn, and candles shaped like trees and leaves. The wall behind them was layered in pages of old books finished with a fall tree mural. The room was warm and cozy with sounds of indie folk on the stereo. Each courses was more flavorful then the last as Chef J brought a strong sophistication to nostalgic fall flavors.
The Viva Mexico Fiesta!
Mexican Food Chef J style. Translation: Over the top, insane flavors and enough food for a week! The menu included a savvy mix of regional Mexican ingredients used in fresh interpretations on the most beloved and classic dishes of Mexican cuisine. Our guests were transported to a Mexican dining room, with walls covered in colorful tile. The room was bright and warm with traditional papel picado banners streamed over a beautiful table covered with bright printed Mexican Oil Cloth. This was the first dinner where many of our guests didn’t know each other and nothing makes us happier then seeing strangers become friends over a delicious meal! Que Bueno!
The Birds & The Bees
What a sexy party! The ladies really tapped into their inner Bettie Pages and we’re thinking the fellas quite liked it. Check out our bombshell honey comb wall! Lady A’s playlist full of Marvin Gaye, Mayer Hawthorne and Etta James set the mood right and Chef J’s menu captured the essence of sex and the charm of spring. Yum!
Rustic America
The inaugural Epic Eats party had eight people, one table, course after course of refined rustic food and an ample supply of wine, beer and bourbon. Fastened to the walls, surrounding the dinner table, were oversized rusted cast iron silverware, decades of history trapped in old license plates, worn maps and painted flags. A playlist created by Lady A filled the room with sounds of classic country mixed with indie folk. As a parting gift, our guests received a CD with a sample of the music played during the night. Stories were told, laughs were had and bellies were filled. A rather successful evening brought to you by the masterminds of Epic Eats.
